AFP Applauds Senator Tim Scott for Championing Worker Freedom
Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) recently reintroduced the Employee Rights Act to champion worker flexibility and allow hard-working Americans to find more pathways to success that will bolster our economy. Congressman Rick Allen (R-GA) is leading the effort on companion legislation in the House. Austen Bannan, Employment Policy Fellow at Americans for Prosperity, released the following statement supporting the legislation:
“On behalf of Americans for Prosperity, I thank Senator Tim Scott for his continued leadership on the most important labor bill in Congress—the Employee Rights Act—and recruiting likeminded cosponsors to the cause.”
“Our economy is evolving, and Americans are changing the way they work to meet this moment. Social entrepreneurs, business owners, and workers all want more options, flexibility, and purpose as a reward for hard work, not outdated regulations, mandates, and top-down union requirements from the last century.
America is the innovation hub of the world, and our labor laws should embrace that, so we all continue to prosper in pursuit of the American dream.”
Americans for Prosperity led a coalition of 29 organizations from around the country calling on Congress to support and cosponsor the Employee Rights Act and its “bottom-up solutions that put workers and small business entrepreneurs first instead of special interests.” Read the coalition letter here.

- Allow workers in Right-to-Work states to opt out of union representation.
- Require opt-in consent for union political spending.
- Give workers control over their personal information during union campaigns.
