Americans for Prosperity South Carolina

South Carolina is failing to lead where it counts – It’s time to build a freer, stronger Palmetto State—one that works for every South Carolinian. At AFP-SC, we’re expanding our grassroots network, equipping more citizens to take action, and partnering with policy champions and coalition allies at the Statehouse to advance bold, lasting reforms.

About AFP-South Carolina

We harness the power of our grassroots network to champion policies that expand freedom, promote economic opportunity, and eliminate the government barriers that stand in the way of progress.

The problems South Carolina faces

Eliminate the Income Tax

The role of state government is to protect your right to build the life you choose—not stand in the way of it. Eliminating South Carolina’s state income tax puts more money back into the hands of families and small businesses, giving them the freedom to grow, invest, and succeed. By making our state more competitive, tax reform will attract new businesses, new residents, and new opportunities—creating a stronger economy that benefits everyone. It’s time to flatten the tax code and set South Carolina on a path to full income tax elimination within the next 10 years. When we prioritize freedom and opportunity, we build a future where all South Carolinians can thrive.

Expand Education Freedom – Universal School Choice

Parents know their children best—and they should have the freedom to guide their education. One-size-fits-all systems don’t work for every student. That’s why we need to expand educational options and give families the ability to choose what works best for their child’s unique needs, strengths, and interests. When parents have more choices, students have a better chance to succeed. Whether it’s public, private, charter, homeschool, or something in between—customizing education creates opportunity and sets the next generation up for a brighter future. It’s time to put parents in the driver’s seat—and put students first.

Cutting Red Tape, Restoring Accountability

We believe in a South Carolina where government stays in its lane—and individual freedom comes first. But today, unelected bureaucrats are creating costly rules behind closed doors, with little transparency and no direct accountability to the people. That’s why passing the Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act is a top priority. This legislation would require major new regulations to be approved by the legislature—ensuring the people’s elected representatives, not unchecked agencies, have the final say on rules that affect our lives, our jobs, and our economy.

Overregulation often results in higher consumer prices, burdens on small businesses, and career roadblocks for individuals. Whether it’s unnecessary licensing requirements or obscure agency mandates, these policies stifle opportunity and slow growth.

We’re committed to rolling back harmful regulations, restoring legislative oversight, and giving South Carolinians the freedom to work, innovate, and thrive. With the Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act, we can rein in bureaucracy—and unleash opportunity.

Advance the Personal Option in Healthcare

The health care system that we currently have is expensive, complicated, and puts too many barriers between patients and their doctors. A Personal Option plan will empower patients, remove red tape, hold hospitals accountable and ensure that South Carolinians have access to doctors they know at prices they can afford.
